Volunteer & Community Service Opportunities

We currently have new volunteer opportunities available Monday – Friday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. We continue to adhere to CDC guidelines by practicing social distancing and implementing health and safety measures. Please complete our volunteer application and a staff member will be in touch with information on next steps.

Once your application has been accepted all volunteers will be required to attend an orientation and to complete a background check. Please note that you will be unable to start volunteering until an orientation has been completed and your background check has been processed.

  • Volunteer Orientation – Our $25.00 orientation fee will cover the cost of your background check and Arizona Helping Hands t-shirt.

We would love for you to join the Arizona Helping Hands volunteer family! The requirements to become an AHH volunteer include:

  • You must be at least 16 years or older (see youth volunteering section regarding opportunities for those under 16 years of age).
  • You must have an internet connection to access the volunteer portal and receive our email communications
  • Felony convictions of any kind, or misdemeanors related to drugs, theft, or violence, preclude involvement in our volunteer program.

Just three easy steps!

  1. Submit your application via the online portal, and our volunteer coordinator will contact you within 3 business days to follow up.
  2. Complete the volunteer orientation. Signups for our biweekly volunteer orientation will be accessible through Sign Up Genius once your application has been approved. The $25.00 volunteer fee is due the day of orientation, so please come prepared. This fee covers the onboarding cost, background check, and your AHH t-shirt. You will receive your t-shirt at the time of orientation.
  3. After orientation is complete and your background check has been processed you will be given access to our volunteer portal to begin your volunteer experience.

We have several options for you to earn volunteer hours while you Bring Hope to Children in Foster Care!

  • Sign up to be a volunteer and join us on a recurring basis.
  • Contact our volunteer coordinator to complete projects at home, as available, and earn volunteer hours
  • Volunteer with an affiliated group (Companies, Religious Organizations, Clubs, etc.) and get hours for volunteering.

We appreciate all who want to share their time and talents to make a difference in the lives of children in foster care! Although we require a minimum age of 16 to volunteer at Arizona Helping Hands, we also have several ways in which your youth can help.   • Court ordered community service is only available in the warehouse for people at least 16 years of age and older.
  • You are responsible for the completion of any forms or documents requested by the court

By submitting an application, you certify that you have not been convicted nor have any presently pending criminal charges for any offense listed below:

  • Any offense against minors as defined by state law
  • A misdemeanor or felony offense as defined by state law that is classified:
  • Sexual assault
  • Indecency with a minor or adult
  • Assault of a minor or adult
  • Injury to a minor or adult
  • Abandoning or endangering a minor
  • Sexual performance with a minor or adult
  • Possession or promotion of child pornography
  • Enticing a minor
  • Bigamy
  • Incest
  • Drug-related offenses
  • Family violence
  • A prior criminal history of an offense against minors

AHH offers group volunteer opportunities for groups of 5 -30 people seeking to make a difference and have an impact in the lives of children in foster care!

  • We offer volunteer experiences available both on and off site to help assist foster families who have stepped up to provide a safe, loving environment for children in foster care.
  •  All volunteer groups must be part of an affiliated organization (Companies, Religious Organizations, Clubs, etc.). Large family groups will be required to go through the standard registration process.

Being a former foster parent myself, I am aware of some of the needs that families and children have. Volunteering here fulfills a personal desire for me, and that is to contribute to an organization whose goals focus on helping others. AHH does this consistently and without hesitation…I am honored to be a small part of a great group of people.
